about the collection

This collection began seven years ago when I visited Iceland for a week with friends. I took a film camera along and snapped the black and white photos you see here.

These paintings are meant to celebrate the raw beauty and other-worldly nature of the Icelandic landscape. The black and white photos, which served as my primary references, provided information about the basic elements present in the landscape while allowing my imagination the freedom to play with color and light.
